6-Week Qigong Series Combining The Seven Precious Gestures- Wednedsays May 6 through June 10.

THE SEVEN PRECIOUS GESTURES

The Seven Precious Gestures are a sequence of movement patterns that was developed by Roger Jahnke, informed by contemporary as well as traditional Qigong Masters. The movements reflect the ancient Taoist internal art of Dao Yin (導引), which literally means “guiding and stretching”. Involving deep inner work with energy and consciousness, Dao Yin exercises allow one to release what is harmful, physically and otherwise, activate and balance the circulation of energy, open the energy channels  and “gates”, cultivate virtuous qualities, and learn to deeply feel, and benefit from, connection with natural forces.

The Seven Precious Gestures, specifically, are intended to induce a relaxed healing state. This unique sequence of qigong exercises benefits health and wellbeing on many levels including as a template to cultivate a deeper internal inquiry, relating, as it does, to many levels of being within the framework of body, mind, and spirit. This practice, along with an opening and closing, contains Taoist secrets waiting to be discovered in the pursuit of wellness. In essence, The Seven Precious Gestures can become a tool to help you in your journey for deepening your cultivation of health, happiness, insight and self-realization and for developing a deeper relationship with the Spirit of the Tao and your eternal nature.

John has been studying and practicing qigong for ten years and teaching for the past five. He is a lifelong educator, versed in making learning effective and fun. He creates a safe, engaging environment through his practice of compassionate communication and empathy. John emphasizes safety and accessibility, teaching modifications based on what is workable for class participants. He enjoys spreading the Qi (“Chi”) through verse and he begins each class with a positive-themed song, which is used to begin movement and sharing.

John has been trained in, and will draw from, two systems: Wisdom Healing Qigong with Master Mingtong Gu, and Integral Qigong with Roger Jahnke.
