Intro to Expressive Art as a Healing Modality - In Person 10:30
Description
This event is in person at Wellness Within.
Join this workshop that is designed for cancer patients and survivors, offering a unique opportunity to explore healing through creative expression. Expressive therapy focuses on the interrelationship of body, mind, and emotion. It uses art, writing, music, and movement, combined with verbal sharing, to foster emotional, physical, and spiritual integration. This inclusive workshop welcomes individuals at any phase of their cancer journey, whether newly diagnosed, undergoing treatment, experiencing a recurrence, or in remission for many years.
Participants can anticipate being introduced to:
- Gathering tools for creative expression with a focus on empathy and unconditional support
- Awakening to their own body in relation to their health, healing, and personal choices
- Addressing feelings and the effects of their diagnosis on daily life, body image, and self-esteem
- Improving physical and emotional well-being, address fatigue, and boost energy levels
- Practicing stress and fear management and improve communication with family and doctors
- Incorporating compassionate self-care into their daily routine
- Integrating feelings, thoughts, and movements into a creative healing practice
These introductory sessions will pave the way for a 12-week virtual Expressive Therapy Group starting soon.
Our classes and programs are funded by grants, sponsors, donors and clients who are paying it forward. Cancer can be expensive; we do not want finances to be a barrier to accessing our valuable programming. Pay-as-you-can with a suggested donation amount per class of $10-$25. This event is incorporated into Wellness Within's comprehensive suite of programs known as the 'Empower Wellness Initiative,' specifically designed to address the psycho-social needs within the cancer community.
